A Candidate will be eligible for
admission to B.Tech. (ECE, CSE,
Mech., IT) if he/she fulfills the
following conditions.

He/ She has
passed 10+2 or its equivalent
examination (Science Stream)
with physics and mathematics as
compulsory subjects along with
any of the subjects of
Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Comp.
Science & Engineering Technology
courses & has passed in English,
and also has qualified CET 2005.
A Candidate appeared/appearing
at qualifying 10+2 examination
held during March/April 2005
shall also be eligible to appear
in the entrance test. The
admission of such candidates
shall be provisional and shall
stand automatically cancelled if
he/she fails to qualify in the
aforesaid examination and such
candidates will have no claim,
whatsoever, to take admission to
the courses.

He should have passed
10th or 10+2 examination with
science stream with aforesaid
subject and has passed Diploma
in any Engg. Trade from Punjab
State Board of Technical
Education, Chandigarh or SLIET,
Longowal and has also qualified
CET-2004.

Lateral entry to B.Tech.
|
Admission for Lateral
entry to B.Tech. Programme for
Diploma holders at the second year
level is made on the basis of merit.

The procedure to be adopted
depends upon the directions
given by the Govt. of Punjab.
Candidates admitted under this
category shall study the same
courses as obtained in the
regular scheme of
B.Tech. Programme from third
semester on wards

The eligibility
criteria is passed out in the
Diploma in
Engineering/Technology from
relevant branch from Punjab
State Board of technical
Education and Industrial
Training, Chandigarh, or Sant
Longowal Central Institute of
Engineering & Technology,
(SLIET). Longowal with a minimum
60% marks in aggregate (or
equivalent grade point in case
of SLIET Diploma)

Eligibility For Admission |

1. |
85%
seats would be reserved for the
candidates from with in the State
and 15% will be open to candidates
on all India Basis. The eligibility
criteria for 85% seats will be that
the candidate must be a resident of
Punjab State in terms of Punjab
Government, Department of Personnel
and Administrative Reforms (PB Br.)
Letter No. 1-3-95-3PI/9619 dated 6th
June, 1996 and letter no.
1-3-95-3PP-II/8I dated 1st January,
1999 and should have passed 10+2
examinations as a regular candidate
from a recognized institute situated
in Punjab. The Candidate would be
required to submit a certificate to
this effect from the Principal/Head
of the Institute last attended in
the prescribed Performa.

The above clause of having
passed 10+1 and 10+2
examinations as a regular
candidate from a recognized
institute situated in Punjab
shall not be applicable to the
following categories of
candidates.
|
a) |
Children, wards and dependants of
those regular central government
employees/Members of all India
Service borne on Punjab Cadre as
well as those on deputation from
other state Cadres with the Punjab
Government/Boards and
Corporations/Statutory Bodies
established by or under an Act of
the state of Punjab, posted outside,
the State of Punjab.

b) |
Children, wards and dependants of
those regular central government
employees not covered under other
categories of this Para C (ii) with
Punjab domicile, who have served for
at least two years in connection
with the affairs of the Punjab
Government / Boards / Corporations /
Statutory Bodies established by or
under an Act of the State of Punjab
out of 5 Yrs. preceding the Yr. of
entrance examination.

c) |
Children, wards and dependants
of those regular central
government pensioners settled
outside Punjab before 1st
January of the Yr. of entrance
examination.

d) |
Children, wards and dependants
of military/para-military forces
personnel belonging to the state
of Punjab as per record at the
time of their entry into service
(A certificate on prescribed
Performa by the Commanding
Officers of the Unit has to be
furnished) ; and
|
|
e) |
Children, wards and dependants of
the employees of
military/para-military forces
personnel belonging to the state of
Punjab as per record at the time of
their entry into service who have
retired on or after 1st January of
the Yr. preceding 2 Yrs. of the Yr.
of entrance examination.

3. |
There
shall be cut off marks in the CET
but only the candidates who appear in
the CET-2005 & whose rank has been
declare by PTU shall be eligible for
admission.

4. |
The
Common entrance Test for making
admissions in various Engineering
Institutes is normally conducted in
the Month of May-June Similarly
academic session shall commence in
the 1st week of August.

5. |
The
guidelines issued for the grant of
residence certificates/ Bonafide
resident of Punjab by the Department
of Personnel and administrative
Reforms (P.P.2 Br) - vide No.
1-3-95-3PP - 2/9619, dated 6th June,
1996 and further instructions,
issued by the department if any,
will be adhered to in letter and
spirit while making admissions to
the Degree/Technological courses in
the Engineering Colleges and in the
Universities etc.
